The glaze pencil lines on the surface of the twisting forms of the pieces from the Scribble Series provide a link between my clay work and my work in drawing, painting, and wire sculpture.
I prefer drawing and painting on my three dimensional ceramic work to traditional glazing techniques.
Drawing has always been a core means of communication for me as an artist. I often put pencil to paper without any idea of what I will draw. There is energy and excitement in this spontaneous, improvisational approach. I also enjoy scratching and drawing on my paintings
